Steliko Fire Lookout is one of the most unique overnight experiences in the Entiat Valley. Perched high in the Entiat Mountains, the historic lookout cabin offers panoramic views of the valley stretching out below — the kind of perspective you would otherwise only reach after a strenuous hike. Here, you drive most of the way up.
The lookout is available as an overnight rental through Recreation.gov and books up quickly for summer and fall weekends. Even if you can't score a reservation, you can drive up to see it — just stay off the stairs if it's occupied. The Steliko Ridge trailhead right nearby adds a hiking option for those who want to stretch their legs.

Steliko Lookout sits at high elevation in the Entiat Mountains with views across the Entiat Valley. The cab — the enclosed room at the top of the tower — is where you sleep, and it's surrounded by windows on all sides. You'll see the valley spreading out below in every direction. Sunrises are worth setting an alarm for.
The lookout is accessible by vehicle — you do not need to hike in. The access road is rough, and a high clearance vehicle is strongly recommended. Do not attempt it in a standard low-clearance car. Road conditions can vary seasonally, so check before your visit. Once there, the Steliko Ridge trailhead is right nearby if you want to explore on foot, and a trail also leads down from the lookout to the road below.
Book through Recreation.gov. The lookout opens for reservations 6 months in advance — for popular summer and fall weekend dates, you'll want to book the moment that window opens. Midweek and shoulder-season dates are easier to get. Check Recreation.gov for current pricing and availability.
You are welcome to drive up and walk the grounds at any time, no reservation required. If the lookout is currently occupied by renters, please stay off the stairs leading up to the cab — this is a basic courtesy to respect the privacy of the people staying there.

High clearance is strongly recommended on the access road. Low-clearance vehicles risk damage on the rougher sections — do not assume a standard sedan will make it.

Stay up for the stars. At this elevation, with no nearby light pollution, the night sky over the Entiat Valley is exceptional on clear nights.
Temperatures at elevation drop significantly at night, even in summer. Bring layers and a warm sleeping bag regardless of the daytime forecast.
Build in time to explore the Steliko Ridge trailhead nearby — it adds a lot to the stay if you have the legs for it.
