Entiat — Things to Do
The most accessible waterfall in the Entiat River Valley — right off the road, no hiking required.
All Things to Do →beExploring / Entiat
The Entiat River Valley is full of waterfalls, but most are hard to see — hidden on private land, buried in canyon walls, or at the end of long hikes. Entiat Falls is the exception. It sits right off Entiat River Road with a dirt parking area steps away, making it one of the most roadside-accessible waterfalls in central Washington.
At 12 feet, the drop is modest, but the falls carry good volume and flow over striking volcanic rock ledges into a narrow gorge. You can walk within yards of the cascade without any trail at all. The lack of development makes it feel genuinely wild — there are no guardrails, no signs, just a powerful stretch of river doing its thing at the edge of a cliff.

Dirt parking pullout right off Entiat River Road.
Drive Entiat River Road about 36 miles from the town of Entiat. The falls are just past the North Fork Campground turnoff. Look for a wide dirt pullout on the roadside — there is no formal sign, but the sound of the water gives it away. The road is paved but narrow; allow 90 minutes each way from town.
Entiat Falls drops about 12 feet over a series of ancient volcanic rock ledges into a narrow gorge on the Entiat River. The height is modest but the volume is strong, especially in spring when snowmelt swells the river. You can walk right up to the edge and stand within yards of the cascade — no trail, no barrier, just water and rock. It is a genuinely impressive scene for a roadside stop.
A wide dirt pullout along the road can fit several cars with room to turn around. There are no facilities and no fee or pass required. This is undeveloped National Forest land.
The site has no guardrails, fencing, or barriers of any kind. The edge of the gorge is close to where you park. Use common sense and keep small children within arm's reach at all times. Wet rock near the falls is slippery.
The Entiat Valley has many waterfalls, but most are inaccessible — on private land, hidden deep in canyon walls, or reachable only after a long hike. Entiat Falls is the valley's most accessible example: high volume, good scenery, and you never leave the roadside. It is an easy addition to any drive into the upper valley.

Entiat Falls is about 36 miles up Entiat River Road from the town of Entiat. Budget at least 90 minutes each way on a narrow, winding mountain road.
Spring and early summer bring the strongest flow from snowmelt. By late summer the volume is lower but the falls remain scenic and accessible.
The site is completely undeveloped with no guardrails or barriers at the edge. Keep close watch on small children near the drop.
Shoot in the morning for softer light — afternoon sun can blow out the white water. A polarizing filter helps cut glare on the wet rocks.
Pair Entiat Falls with Box Canyon Viewpoint on the same drive — both are in the upper valley and neither requires a hike.
Fill up before heading into the valley. There are no services past the town of Entiat.
