Washington State
Washington's Bavarian mountain town — hiking, festivals, beer halls, and one of the Pacific Northwest's best Christmas celebrations.
beExploring / Leavenworth
Leavenworth is a Bavarian-themed village in the Cascade Mountains, about 2.5 hours east of Seattle. Every building in downtown is styled after a German Alpine village — half-timbered facades, flower boxes, and carved woodwork — making it genuinely unlike anything else in the Pacific Northwest.
What makes it worth the drive: the surrounding outdoors. The Enchantments, Icicle Gorge, and Icicle Ridge offer some of the best hiking in Washington State. The Christmas Lighting Festival draws visitors from across the region every December, and beer halls and breweries give the town a lively, social energy in every season.
