Overview

Most camping near Leavenworth falls into two categories: private campgrounds and RV resorts close to town, and Forest Service campgrounds along Icicle Creek Road heading west into the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The private options — Icicle River RV Resort and the KOA Holiday — offer full hookups and showers close to downtown. The USFS campgrounds on Icicle Creek Road are first-come, first-served with vault toilets and no hookups, and they fill fast on summer weekends.

Rock Island Campground on the Wenatchee River offers a quieter alternative just off US-2 west of town. Deeper into Icicle Canyon, Bridge Creek and Eightmile put campers within easy reach of the Enchantments trailheads, while Johnny Creek, Chatter Creek, and Ida Creek offer more remote experiences further from the crowds. For all Forest Service campgrounds, arriving Thursday is strongly recommended in summer.
