Is ski access my top priority?
Look for cabins or vacation rentals listed as walking distance to Summit Central or Summit East.
Am I traveling with a family or group?
A cabin with a full kitchen and hot tub is far more comfortable than stacking everyone into hotel rooms.
Do I just need a quick overnight?
The Summit Inn is easiest — the only hotel right at the pass with no minimum stay.
Do I want a resort experience?
Suncadia or Salish Lodge offer the full resort experience, 30–40 min from the pass.
Am I working with a tighter budget?
North Bend has cheaper chain hotels — add 30 minutes each way to the pass.

Booking too late for ski weekends. Slopeside vacation rentals at Snoqualmie fill up 4–8 weeks in advance for busy winter weekends.
Assuming the Summit Inn has availability. It's the only hotel at the pass and books out on powder weekends. Have a backup plan.
Not checking road conditions before driving up. Traction tire restrictions on I-90 are actively enforced — getting turned around on the way to your rental is a real risk.
Choosing based only on price without factoring in drive time. Staying in North Bend saves money but adds 30–40 minutes of driving each way to the slopes.
