Sun Mountain Lodge
Best for a full resort experience
Perched above the valley with ski-in/ski-out Nordic access, Sun Mountain Lodge is the area's premier destination resort — dining, spa, and guided activities included.
Mazama Lodging
Best for trailhead and highway access
Fourteen miles up-valley, Mazama's Freestone Inn and The Inn at Mazama put you closer to the North Cascades Highway and the trailheads, with the Mazama Store nearby for supplies.
Cabins & Vacation Rentals
Best for families and groups
The Methow Valley has a wide selection of cabins and vacation rentals, from the well-known Rolling Huts to riverside properties in both Winthrop and Mazama. Airbnb and VRBO have the largest selection.

Late Sept – Mid Oct
Book months ahead- The single busiest lodging season in Winthrop — larch season fills rooms weeks in advance
- Weekday stays are far easier to find than fall weekends
- Sun Mountain Lodge and downtown hotels sell out first for peak color weekends
Nov – Mar
Book early for Nordic season- Nordic ski weekends and holiday periods fill Sun Mountain Lodge and Mazama lodging quickly
- Highway 20 is closed, so all access is via US-97 through Wenatchee
- Midweek stays offer the best availability and rates
Jun – Aug
Good availability- Easier to find lodging than fall or winter, though weekends still book up
- Highway 20 is open, making Mazama an easy day trip or lodging base for North Cascades hikes
- Farmers market and summer festivals add weekend demand downtown
Larch season and winter holiday weekends fill up first — book those dates as early as possible if they're non-negotiable.
