Downtown Winthrop has several lodging options within walking distance of the boardwalk, including Hotel Rio Vista on the Methow River, River’s Edge Resort along the Chewuch River, and River Run Inn a short walk west of town. A few minutes up the hill, Sun Mountain Lodge offers Winthrop’s only full destination-resort experience, with ski-in/ski-out access to the Nordic trail network. Fourteen miles further up-valley, Mazama has its own small cluster of lodging at the Freestone Inn and The Inn at Mazama, both closer to the trailheads and the North Cascades Highway.

Book larch season (late September–early October) and winter holiday weekends months ahead. Sun Mountain Lodge sells out first.
Pick the area first. Downtown is walkable. Sun Mountain is the resort. Mazama is a 14-mile drive toward the trailheads.
Highway 20 closes in winter. Mazama is a dead-end base once the pass shuts, not a shortcut over the mountains.
