Overview

Cascade Creek Campground is a small hike-in campground on the north shore of Lake Chelan along the Lakeshore Trail, roughly 5 miles up-lake from Prince Creek. It is a common overnight stop for backpackers traveling between Prince Creek and Stehekin, so it can fill up even though it feels remote. The campground sits beside the lake, with Cascade Creek running directly through camp and mountain-and-water views from the shore.

The main camping area has space for a handful of tents near the picnic table and fire pit. There are also a few other level spots nearby that may work for small tents, but capacity is limited and the campground is first-come, first-served. If you are hiking the Lakeshore Trail, it is worth having Meadow Creek Shelter in mind as a backup in case Cascade Creek is already full.

Although the campground is on Lake Chelan and has remnants of an old dock, it is not considered a boat-in campground. The site has a pit toilet reached by crossing Cascade Creek on a log bridge. The toilet has excellent open views over the lake and no surrounding walls, but it is set well away from the trail and the rest of the campground.

Things to Know

hiking

Cascade Creek Campground is reached from the Lakeshore Trail, about 5 miles up-lake from Prince Creek. It should be planned as a backpacking stop, not a boat-in campground.

event_available

No reservations are accepted, and the campground is a common stop on the Lakeshore Trail. If the tent spots are already taken, Meadow Creek Shelter is a useful backup plan.

water_drop

There is no potable water. Treat or filter water from Cascade Creek or Lake Chelan before drinking.

wc

The pit toilet has no surrounding walls and looks out over the lake. It is well out of sight of the trail and campground, but the setup is more exposed than a typical backcountry toilet.

sailing

There are remnants of an old dock near the campground, but Cascade Creek is not considered a boat-in campground.
