Overview

Meadow Creek Shelter is a hike-in only campground along the Lake Chelan Lakeshore Trail, about 6.7 miles from the Prince Creek dock and roughly 1 mile from Cascade Creek Campground. Unlike many Lake Chelan backcountry camps, it is not on the water. The shelter sits in shaded forest above the lake, with Meadow Creek about a hundred yards away for water.

The main feature is an old three-sided shelter with an earthen floor. It is weathered, but still in good shape, and gives backpackers a simple covered place to sleep or sort gear. There are also several level spots around the shelter where small tents can be pitched.

A pit toilet sits nearby and has recently had new privacy screens installed. Meadow Creek Shelter can work well as an overnight stop on the Lakeshore Trail, especially if Cascade Creek is full, but many hikers still choose the nearby waterfront campgrounds such as Cascade Creek or Moore Point when those options are available.
