Overview
Leavenworth Adventure Park sits at the corner of Highway 2 and Icicle Road, a short walk from Front Street. The draw is the Tumwater Twister — Washington’s first alpine coaster — 2,700 feet of track with a 234-foot drop and three 360° spirals. You control the speed. It runs year-round, including light snow.
The same hillside holds more than the coaster. Alpine Ascent is a 27-foot climbing wall with auto belays. Gems of the Enchantments is a mining sluice where kids pan a bag of rough and take gems home. Both are warm-weather attractions and close for the season; the coaster does not. Picnic tables sit on site, and the Guest Services Center serves food and local beer.
There is no entrance fee. You pay for the attractions you ride. Coaster reservations are required — you are booking a check-in time, not a ride time — and peak summer slots sell out. Buy tickets and read current prices on leavenworthadventurepark.com.

How a Visit Works
Reserve the coaster, not a ride time
Alpine Coaster reservations are required. The slot is a check-in time, not a ride time. After you get a wristband you have 90 minutes to finish your coaster rides. Walk-ups are welcome when there is space; weekends and August fill. Sign the waiver online before you arrive.
Height and age on the coaster
Solo riders must be 54 inches tall. Kids 3 and older who are at least 38 inches ride with a driver 16 or older. Sleds hold two people, 375 lbs combined in dry weather or 330 lbs when wet. Each rider needs their own ticket, including a child sharing a sled.
Climbing wall and mining sluice are seasonal
Alpine Ascent (27-foot wall, auto belay, $10 for two attempts, 3+ and 38 inches, closed-toe shoes) and Gems of the Enchantments (mining sluice, $8 including the ID card and bag) run in warmer months and close for the season. The coaster stays open. Confirm what is running on the park site before you treat the wall or the sluice as a given.
Hours change with the season
Summer is typically 10am–8pm daily, last ride sold at 7:45pm. Fall and winter are typically Thursday–Monday 10am–6pm, last ride sold at 5:45pm. Tuesday and Wednesday often go dark outside summer. Check the homepage the day you go.

Why Go
The only alpine coaster in Washington, on the west edge of town where Icicle Road meets US-2. A half-mile of track with a 234-foot drop, plus a climbing wall, a mining sluice, and picnic tables — the paid family stop that actually fills a morning.
What to Know
- Tumwater Twister: 2,700 feet of track, 234-foot drop, three 360° spirals, up to 35 feet off the ground. Open year-round, including light snow. You control the speed with hand brakes, up to about 27 mph.
- Solo at 54 inches. Ages 3+ and 38 inches ride with a driver 16 or older. Two per sled; 375 lbs dry, 330 lbs wet. Each person needs a ticket.
- Alpine Ascent climbing wall and Gems of the Enchantments mining sluice are warm-weather only. Picnic tables stay; food and local beer are in the Guest Services Center. No outside food.
- 9342 Icicle Road, about a 15-minute walk from Front Street. Free parking with a coaster reservation. Do not park at the 76 station or on neighborhood streets. No RV or trailer parking on site.
- No entrance fee. Pay per attraction. Mining sluice $8, climbing wall $10 for two attempts; coaster prices are on the park’s tickets page. Military and 98826 locals discounts are 15% on adult and youth coaster tickets, with rules — check the park site.

Tips
Book the coaster when you book lodging. The reservation is a check-in slot; peak summer weekends sell out of those slots.
Sign the waiver online before you arrive. One waiver covers every attraction. A parent or guardian signs for anyone under 18.
Walk from downtown if you can — about 15 minutes. Parking is free with a reservation and is for guests actually using the park.
One big paid activity per day. Do not stack the coaster with a long hike; tired kids melt down before dinner.

Common Mistakes
Treating August as a walk-up. Walk-ins exist; they are not a plan. If the coaster is why you came, the reservation is as important as the hotel.
Assuming a toddler can ride. Under 3, or under 38 inches, does not ride. Measure before you sell it as the trip highlight.
Parking at the 76 station or on neighborhood streets. The park asks you not to. RVs and trailers do not fit on site.
Planning the climbing wall or mining sluice in winter. Those close for the season. The coaster is the year-round piece.
