Overview
Waterfront Park is Leavenworth’s river park, a few blocks south of the Bavarian downtown. Fifteen acres of trails, beaches, and a playground sit on the west bank of the Wenatchee River, with a footbridge onto 14-acre Blackbird Island. The City of Leavenworth lists hours as 6am–10pm. There is no entry fee and no camping.
Most people come for an easy walk: the Blackbird Island loop, a sandy beach with Cascade views, and the grated-mat take-out that ends the town tubing float. In winter the restrooms typically close on October 15, but the trails stay open for walking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. Hours, seasons, and park rules follow the City of Leavenworth.

Blackbird Island Bridge
The signature crossing from the downtown side of Waterfront Park onto Blackbird Island. Once you are on the island, three parallel trails run the length of it and meet at the Enchantment Park bridge on the far end.
Blackbird Island Trails
Hot Sands, River, and Channel trails run the island under cottonwoods, with benches and river views. The loop is flat and short — the family hike in town, and usually snow-free enough to walk in winter.
Enchantment Park Bridge
The south-end footbridge off Blackbird Island into Enchantment Park. Cross here for the pump track, skate park, and ball fields without driving around.
Downtown Promenade
The gravel-and-lamp-post path that drops from the hotels on Commercial Street into the park. If you are staying downtown, this is the walk-in: no need to hunt for the Main Street lot.

Sand Bar Beach
The wide sandy beach looking up the Wenatchee toward the Cascades. People spread towels, wade, and watch tubes go by. It is river access, not a buoyed swim area, and there are no lifeguards.
Tubing Take-Out
The classic town-float landing: a sand bar with a grated mat into the current and signs telling you not to continue past this point. Deflate here, use the restrooms above, and walk up into downtown. River tubing guide.
Marble Rock Beach
A quieter sand bar on the island side of the channel — less staging than the tubing beach, more of a sit-and-look spot. Same cold river, same current. Good for a break in the middle of the loop.
Hot Sand Beach
The island’s wading beach on the Wenatchee — cobbles, old pilings in the current, and a wide view up the valley. Reach it from the Hot Sands Trail. It is not a guarded swim area; the water is cold snowmelt with current, so keep a close eye on kids.

Park Entrance
The signed entrance at the Main Street lot, with the city park-rule boards. This is where the trail into the park and down to the beaches starts — easy to overshoot if you are looking for a building.
Playground
Swings, a spinner, and climbers on wood chips, with the hotels above the river. A natural add-on after the island loop, and close enough to the lot that little kids do not have to walk far.
Picnic Lawn
A mowed lawn under big trees, with picnic tables. This is the shade people look for in July — bring lunch, then walk the island. Pack it in, pack it out; trash cans are at the lot and restrooms.
Restrooms
Flush restrooms in a small Bavarian-style building next to the lot. Typically open in the park season and closed October 15 through mid-April. There is no winter vault toilet on site.
Parking
A gravel lot at the end of Main Street. It fills on summer weekends, especially when tubing is running. If it is full, walk from downtown or use the Enchantment Park lot and cross the island.
Pollinator Garden
A short signed pollinator-habitat path along the island trails, with native plantings and an interpretive board. A two-minute stop on the loop, and a reason to keep dogs on trail.

Things to Know
Open 6am–10pm
The City of Leavenworth lists Waterfront Park as open 6am to 10pm. It is unlawful to stay in the park after close. Camping is not allowed in any city park.
Restrooms close for winter
Flush restrooms typically close October 15 and reopen around April 15, depending on snowmelt. Trails stay open in winter for walking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.
Dogs on leash
Leashed dogs are welcome on the trails and island. City code does not allow animals to run at large, and owners have to pick up after them. This is not an off-leash park.
Parking fills on hot days
The park lot is at the end of Main Street. It is a gravel lot and fills on summer weekends when tubers and walkers overlap. Walk down from downtown, or park at Enchantment Park and cross Blackbird Island.
No lifeguards
The river beaches are not a guarded swim area. The Wenatchee is cold snowmelt with current. Keep a close eye on kids, and do not jump or dive from the bridges — that is prohibited.
Tubing take-out
The sandy beach with the grated mat is the classic take-out for the Icicle Road-to-town float. Missing it commits you to continuing downstream. See the river tubing guide for put-ins, the free shuttle, and outfitters.
