Overview
Leavenworth’s city parks sit in a tight cluster south of the Bavarian downtown, along the Wenatchee River. You can walk from Front Street Park’s gazebo to the Waterfront Park beach in a few minutes, then keep going across Blackbird Island to Enchantment Park’s pump track and ball fields.
Waterfront Park is the one most visitors come for: a sandy river take-out, the Blackbird Island loop, and a playground under the hotels. Enchantment Park is the family sports complex on the far side of the island. Front Street Park is the downtown lawn — festivals all year, a free sledding hill in winter.

Waterfront Park is the easiest outdoor stop in Leavenworth. A short walk from Front Street puts you on a sandy Wenatchee River beach, a playground, and the footbridge onto Blackbird Island. Trails on the island loop through cottonwoods and connect to Enchantment Park on the far side. In summer the beach is the take-out for the town tubing float; in winter the same paths stay open for walking and snowshoeing.
What to Know
- Open 6am–10pm. City of Leavenworth restrooms typically close October 15; trails stay open in winter.
- Park at the lot at the end of Main Street, or walk down from downtown. The lot fills on hot weekends.
- Dogs on leash. Jumping or diving from the bridges is prohibited.
- No camping. No lifeguards on the river beaches.

Enchantment Park is the “field of dreams” on the south side of the river — two softball fields, a junior baseball field that doubles as youth soccer, a paved pump track, a skate park, and a playground. Trails leave the fields for Blackbird Island and Waterfront Park, so a sports stop turns into a river walk without moving the car. The lot holds a large number of vehicles plus buses, which is why this is the overflow park when the Waterfront lot is full.
What to Know
- Open 6am–10pm. Ball fields typically close October 15 and reopen around April 15, depending on snowmelt.
- Trails and restrooms stay open in winter for walking and cross-country skiing.
- Free lot at 300 Enchantment Park Way, with ADA stalls and room for buses.
- Dogs on leash on the trails. No camping.

Front Street Park

Front Street Park is Leavenworth’s living room. The gazebo and Maibaum (maypole) sit on a sloping lawn in the middle of the pedestrian village, so every festival on the calendar uses this grass: Christmas Lighting, Oktoberfest, Maifest, Art in the Park. In winter the same slope is the free sledding hill, steps from cocoa and the beer halls. It is 1.75 acres, not a destination hike — it is where downtown happens outdoors.
What to Know
- Open 6am–midnight, later than the river parks. No camping, and no lingering after close.
- No park lot of its own. Use downtown paid lots and walk; Front Street is a pedestrian plaza.
- Oktoberfest’s park tent is 21 and over. The sledding hill is free — bring a plastic sled.
- Dogs on leash. Scoop laws apply.

Lions Club Park
A small shade-and-picnic park with tables, a shelter, and restrooms. The Lions Club hosts breakfasts here. Open 6am–10pm. Not a river park — a quiet lawn off the highway.
